Is my GPU done for?

Okay. I took apart my PC and cleaned everything because it had a lot of dust in and around it. Finished all of that fine and plugged everything back in. Turned on nothing happened, so opened the case to see the second GPU (PCI-E black power wire) was not plugged into the card. So I plug it in, GPU precedes to make a clicking noise and the light from it goes off (Yes, I know. This was very stupid and I felt so incompetent in that moment that I stared for a whole minute because I fell and lay on the floor beginning to rekindle my faith in God).

Is it basically ruined now or is there anything I can do apart from getting a new one?

Edit: I have an ASUS motherboard and it is displaying the code "AE" which I am led to believe means "legacy boot" or something along those lines, the VGA LED is also lit up in red.

Hello Yaemeg, this issue sounds frustrating I went through almost the same thing when my GPU went out. Let's see if we can get you back up and running!

The first thing you could try is resetting the CMOS.
To reset the CMOS you usually remove a button cell battery on the motherboard while the computer is unplugged, also make sure your computer is discharged of all power by pressing and holding the power button while the computer is unplugged.
If you don't have a cmos battery some motherboards have a clear CMOS button.

If that doesn't work try unplugging your GPU and see if your computer will boot into windows using the motherboards video output.

Try that and let us know what happens. -Sam

Hey there, thanks for the help!

I had never heard of this CMOS reset which you had talked about and so I searched for a guide of it on Google, finding this: http://smallbusiness.chron.com/clear-cmos-asus-motherboard-53182.html
I followed the instructions exactly, however I must note a couple of things that I was unsure about:
-I moved the 2 block plastic things to the right which I imaged to be from 1-2 to 2-3, just to be clear this is how I am imagining the pins: (with the six pins being ::: = :[1]:[2]:[3] )
-It said to do all of this while leaving the power off, is this correct?

Okay, so I did all of this and turned my system back on with everything plugged back in as normal, the motherboard then displayed the following things:
-Q code returned as "d6"
-The VGA RED LED on
-The BOOT DEVICE RED LED on.
-Nothing appears on display and the lights from the GPU are not lit.

Just to be clear:
My motherboard is an "Asus Intel Lga2011-V3 X99-A M.2X4 SATA Motherboard".
My GPU or Graphics Card is a GTX 980 Ti

I don't believe my motherboard has any integrated graphics output, unless I am mistaken.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I forgot to hold the power button while unplugged, should I redo everything and do this? If so, at what stage should I do this.
