Is my GPU dying? Anyway how to discover it?

Hi fellas,

since a few days ago when playing Grid Autosport, I am going through some huge fps drops, which is strange because I always could play the game on the highest settings possible @ 60 fps and now, suddenly, it goes up to 40, even 35 frames. I am kinda worried, is my gpu dying? cpu? ram? Idk...

I never had this problem before. In general I don't play too much games, only racing ones. Sometimes battlefield and far cry, you know... I installed the old *really old* need for speed, 2005 most wanted, using a tool to play it @ 1080p (which is my default resolution), and sometimes I feel the game is a little heavy, slow, IDK.

I never felted it before on my rig, and that should not be happening, I mean, that game is from 10 years ago. Anyway, the real question is: Is there a way, software, something, whatever, that helps me to find a problem in my pc? thanx

Specs:

990FX Extreme3;
FX-6300 @ Stock Frequency
8GB HyperX @ 1866mhz
Corsair h60 v2
GTX 760 Super Clock (EVGA).
XFX PRO 650W PSU.

Check your temps
http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ (CPU)
http://www.gputemp.com/ (GPU)

run it in the background, then when your FPS fall check the program to see the max TEMP your parts achieved, if they achieved too high temps, my best guess is dust


Check for dust on your whole PC, clean it with a hair drier ONLY with cool air unless you want to spend money on an air canister
Clean the Heatsink on your CPU, that solved a problem very similar to yours to me

Very good to know this, there's 3 months I don't clean my rig, it's really dusty.

With a coupla years old graphics card you should
'Always' get a size 0 (zero) Philips screw driver, some 'T.I.M' clean, some thermal paste and strip the graphics card down.
Clean and re paste the gpu chip, re assemble the card and put the pc back together.
Some cards are assembled so badly from the off you cannot lose.
The cheap gunk they assemble them with is rubbish,best to put it together yourself;
You have to look into the guts of a card to realise how bad things can be from the factory.
Its a miracle they last at all to be Honest.

I don't know... never done this before.

Hey bro, after 1 week I managed to clean my rig and now it's working perfectly. As far as I imagine, it was actually dust's fault. Now I can play grid autosport on ultra again. thank you.
