is my GPU too hot?

Hi everybody

i've had some problems with battlefield 4, frame drops and latest a diretx fail saying ''directx function ''getdeviceremovedreason'' failed with dxgi_error_device_hung'' and some more so i looked how my GPU had it while i was playing BF4 in windowed mode:

power: about 100 of 150 (dont know what it means)
GPU temperature: about 70 celsius
GPU usage: 100%

my GPU is overclocked so would it help if i underclocked it a bit and is my GPU too hot?

Definitely return the card to stock settings. All the settings including the power. Play the game and if the directx error doesn't return, it was probably the overclock even though 70c isn't crazy high. You might want to change the fan profile and increase the fan speed a little. What brand is your GPU and what OC software are you using? Also, what power supply do you have?

it's a GTX 660 2GB OC
im using MSI afterburner
i think i have a cooler master GX 550 or 650 bronze

i've got the card down to around 53 celsius but the GPU usage is still on 99%? how do i get it down?

You probably aren't going to be able to lower the usage unless you lower the detail settings and resolution of the game. You really don't want to get the GPU usage % down as it is normal for it to be that high on games like this. Even high-end cards like the 680 and 770 are going to be using close to 99% or at 99-100%. If your CPU usage gets that high then you should be concerned.

i just played a domination round on operation locker and i didn't have any frame drops or crashes. while i was playing i looked on my GPU stats and CPU stats they were like this:

CPU: about 70-80 %
GPU temperature: about 65 C
GPU usage: 75-99 %

i was running the game on medium-high with antialising off.
is this good or bad?

Good. If the game isn't crashing or dropping frames, you shouldn't be concerned. If BF4 is no longer crashing either, you are fine.

ok i just played one more match and this time i was getting a little bit of frame drops, but it was just a second or semething like that.
again i was playing medium-high, but i ran bf4 in full screen mode insted of windowed this time. i still had MSI afterburner open in the background so i could check CPU usage, GPU usage and GPU temperature.

CPU usage: 70-90/92 %
GPU usage: 99 %
GPU temperature: 55-60C

That is your GPU. I was wondering what CPU such as an Intel i5, i7 or AMD FX-series. The CPU can affect game performance as well, though not as much as the GPU does in modern games.

Intel i5-4670K, 4 x 3.40GHz (Haswell), 3.80 Ghz Turbo.....did it help you?
