So i've been running my pc on my igpu in the intel core i5-4460 without any gpu, untill today. My asus gtx 1060 just arrived and when i installed the card to my pc and downloaded/installed all the drivers i booted up some games and the performance was exactly the same as with my igpu. Now i've gone ahed and installed the asus gpu tweak that came with the drivers CD and when i launched a game there was no gpu usage. another thing that i found out when i tried different games is that in minecraft is said that it's using intel(R) hd graphics 4600. Now i don't know what any of that means but im pretty sure that it means that it is not using the gpu but insted using the igpu. Now correct me if im wrong but i think that i have to activate the gpu in some way, no idea how but thats why im asking. And btw the gpu is intalled and GeForce experience detects it when i check my ''components'' so i dont think its installed wrong. And here is my pc specs just in case you need them:

CPU: intel core i5 4460
GPU: asus dual gtx 1060
Motherboard: gigabyte b85-hd3
PSU: corsair vs 550
Ram: hyperX ddr3 ram (8gb)

What resolutions before and after? What settings, low, medium, high? The difference is going to be most noticeable at higher resolutions and settings.
The real way to measure the difference is to add the FPS counter in game (GeForce Experience has this) and do a before and after.
Take out the 1060, then keep increasing the resolution and details level until the FPS drops to below 30FPS. Then put in the 1060 and measure the FPS again with the same settings. If it is working correctly your FPS should go up a lot. Then you can increase resolution and settings until it can't run above 30 FPS and you know to use settings just below that.

The thing is that i have the same resolution and settings but still, there is no difference between when the card is in and when its out, as i said previously i think that my pc is using the igpu insted of using the new gpu

I'm not trying to patronize, just picking the low hanging fruit first. You do have your monitor plugged into the ports on the graphics card, and not the ports on your motherboard, right?

Are you basing this on feel or on some hard numbers, like frame rates? I asked about what settings you had it on because for all we know you are running it at low resolution and low details so it will feel the same because the onboard graphics can handle it easily.

uhhhh well... i feel pretty stupid... you my sir should have a medal. Had no idea that is even mattered. Well i guess you learn a new thing evreyday. Once again thank you. Tried it out and it worked perfectly.

I've done more than my share of mistakes like this too, no worries. Glad we got it sorted out for you.
