Hi all,

I would need some final advice just tu make sure that my graphics card is truly dead.

Today, while doing normal things - had firefox and darkest dungeon (low demand game) running I experienced first two black screens in quick sucession followed by an error message from the graphics driver. What followed were graphics artifacts - dissorting collums running down the monitor, then a BSOD .After reboot the PC functioned for another 15 minutes when the same thing happened with the difference that now after boot there is no video signal - PC seems to post (i hear the same noises).

Previously I had problems when running games that I got an unexpected shutdown without any warnings or error popups uppon boot. My first thoughts went towards the RAM or PSU as they, just like the GPU are 4 years old - the rest has been upgraded. Now I think it is the graphics card.

What I have tried so far, is to remove the Graphics card, clean it and stick it back in, but nothing has changed. I have yet to try different monitors (dont think thats the problem), nor have I tried the card in a different set up, I will try to do that asap.

Specs:

CPU: AMD FX-8370
RAM: Kingston 8GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9
GPU: MSI R9 270 Gaming 2G
MOBO: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
HDD main: Samsung SSD EVO 250GB
HDD Secondary: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA6Gb/s WD1002FAEX
PSU:RS 500 PSAP I3

The CPU and Mobo are about a year old, the SSD is two years old, the rest is original about 4 years.

Any tips on steps on how to further diagnose or make a decision would be much appreciated as I need the PC up and running ASAP - I do half my work from home and need the data stored within.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the tip, but Im not sure its applicable. I dont have any secondary GPU. The cpu does not have an integrated chip nor does the MoBo, or not that I know of.

Your drivers could still be corrupted. This will ensure that the issue is not due to a corrupted driver.

I ssee. Problem is I have no video input. When I boot up the PC the screen remains black.
