Is my graphics card defective?

My evga gtx 980 sc scored 11,600 on 3d mark on Fire Strike. That doesn't sound right I could have sworn I heard that they were suppose to go as high as 12,500. I did have some issues with this card when installing it, but other than it seems to run fine, but the score seems much lower. I used the latest version of 3d mark too. Temps are safe and drivers are fully up to date.

My system specs:
i7 4770k
1 TB SSD
evga gtx 980 sc
1200W Corsair AXi
Maximus VI Extreme Motherboard
16GB G.1 Skill Sniper 1600Mhz RAM

Some 980's get around the 13,000 score, what preset were you running it on though? extreme or normal?

Also try playing a game on it and try to compare your fps to an average fps on a website. Sometimes benchmarks aren't always accurate.

Also try reinstalling drivers, and/or updating drivers. The score could also be caused by other programs such as anti-virus software or software that can Tax on the system. Look around a bit.
