I am building my first pc and when I tried to boot my computer for the first time I got no display on the monitor, all the lights and fans turned on and the graphics card lit up. I then rechecked all the wires and decided to unplug the graphics card, this time the computer booted right up, I tried again, reconnecting the gpu and again received no signal to the monitor, is my gpu doa?

Solution
Did you disable the onboard video this should do it when you insert a descrete gpu but you never know. Did you make sure both the 6pin and the 8 pin power cables were plugged into the gpu. your PSU EVGASupernova NEXB Is a tier 4 Which is not the best It may be the issue if you have a friend you could try your card in their system that would rule out the gpu. If you just bought the psu you might want to take it back and get a better one Tier 4 psu are never a good idea and can lead to a boat load of head aches
Here is the TOMS list of psus

As I mentioned always try for a tier 1 or tier 2 a tier3 if its a very basic system you don't plan on overclocking.

Yes I did, and if I was to return the power supply would I return it to the company or the sight I bought it from, that may be the problem I was a little budget tight. How do I disable the onboard video though I didn't think I had to do it manually.

Hey sorry I was away from my computer for a week on vacation, when I got home my new monitor had arrived and I decided to try it with the graphics card and everything worked, kinda weird haha, anyways thank you for the help and sorry for the late response, I'll look into getting a new power supply as well.
