I think the answer is probably yes...

I have a venerable old (2006!!) Dell flatscreen monitor that has provided sterling and trouble-free service over the years. About a week ago, just after (I think) a Windows 10 update, the display changed so that there is an overall tint of darkish green. I've checked the usual online sources but can't find a reason for this. What is strange is that when I connected a different monitor (LG model), the display works more or less perfectly with no hint of a green tint, so probably not the graphics card or a software issue. And when I ran the self-diagnostic colour test, the square with red, green, blue and white bars showed perfectly - on a black background.

As I say, the monitor is about 14 years old, so I can't complain, but I don't really want to throw something out that is still werviceable. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Try a different display cable. Unless the LG worked fine with said cable. Otherwise, yes, the display is kaput. One of the color channels has gone out.

On another note. Modern LED monitors use a lot less power.
Ah, OK. Yes, exactly the same cable (VGA - the monitor is so old it doesn't have an HDMI port) so it's clearly not going to be revived.

Thanks for the information: I shall make a ritual sacrifice at my local recycling centre. Good to know that my electricity bill might g down as well :).
