Hi,
Yesterday when I was working the display suddenly went blank although the pc was running. I immediately shut down the pc and tried to run it again. Although the system was running, the display wasn't showing anything. Totally blank.
I switched the graphic card with my old HD4870 and the display was working fine. Again tried with the GTX 970 but no display.
What I find strange is that it didn't show any sign of dying, like artifacts or anything. Straight away went totally blank.
Is the graphics card dead?

Solution
I have a 10+ year old Zebronics PSU 700W.
Also I notice a strange thing that even after turning off PC and unplugging it from mains, after 5 minutes or so the mobo light and other led s would glow for 5 to 10 seconds before turning off. Is this because of PSU malfunctioning?

I don’t know that psu but at 10 years it’s going to be past it’s prime. The mobo leds staying on doesn’t mean anything. I’d definitely replace the psu when getting a new gpu.

It is displaying nothing at all. The screen indicator is blinking that's all. As a result I can't go into safe mode.
When I use my old HD6870 it is displaying all fine.
What I find strange is that it went dead instantly. No signs of artifacts or anything.

It can just happen with no warning. Out of interest which psu do you have? A poor quality psu can reduce the life of components.
