Is my GTX 970 running properly? Seems too hot?

Hello,

Me and my girlfriend recently purchased the same rig. 4690k + MSI GTX 970, and well, our temperatures and such are varying greatly from one another. This is what my Afterburner reads at idle on desktop while doing nothing:

29200lx.jpg
As you can see my GPU clock at idle is boosted up to 1113 MHz and my Memory Clock is 3505 MHz, with temperatures averaging from 45-57C Idle, 75-85 while Gaming (when the fans kick in it does go down.) My GPU power % is 45 while doing this.

Her GPU clock is only 135MHz with her Memory Clock at 324MHz and her temperatures are averaging 25-30C, and her Power is at 10%.

So why is it that everything is jacked up for me? I can't seem to turn it down... Really confused.

Games and everything else run fantastic, it's just this temp/boost thing.

There's nothing running oddly. Only using 0.77% CPU power between Firefox and a few other background apps.

The interesting thing is that if I click the snowflake icon on my MSI Gaming App, the fans turn up loud and it drops to like 28% very fast, but then goes back up once the cooling period is done. I've also tried to manually set fans but they just drop 0%/Auto whenever I do.

Whenever I increase the fan speed it switches to auto and instantly goes back to 0%, on afterburner that is.

Is there any other software to do it? Also is it normal to run those GPU/Memory speeds on idle? Seems excessive and I see no option to turn any of it down.

I've fixed the issue.

It was the MSI Gaming App taskbar add on that came with my card. Never even realized it was OCing my card hard 24/7.

I'm assuming it'll still run the same when gaming?

Well, if you turned off the OC then you will see a performance difference. Depends on how much the OC was. For me, I get a ~15 fps boost from my OC, so if I were to return to stock speeds I'd see 15 or so less fps on average.

what do you mean by, im assuming it will still run the same when gaming? do you mean the temps? at stock speeds it should be running around 55c during games, atleast thats what my friends msi runs at
