When I start up my laptop it makes a clicking sound along with flashing the ethernet and hdd lights, the screen will stay "black" for a few seconds and then the clicking sound and flashing lights stop and my laptop will start up normally. I ran a S.M.A.R.T. test and it said that my hard drive was perfectly fine, help?

Solution

There should be an option in bios to reset to default. It will basically set your bios back to factory spec and everything should be set to auto.

Hi there hybriskhris,

I would agree with elbert. It could be fans that is making that noise.
Yet, it would be a nice idea to back up the data stored on the drive.

Is the laptop under warranty? In case it is, you can just contact the place you got it from.

Can you locate the area where the sound comes from? Is the the HDD one or where the fans are located?

Cheers,
