I don't know which distro to use, so if you think any is best for my purposes and has HIGH CUSTOMIZATION then please do say :) (Linux beginner-ish + up for a challenge)

I will be using pc for hearthstone, osu, some csgo, coding in ruby and c# & internet browsing/streaming.

ALSO are my peripherals compatible?

Specs:
i5 4690k
MSI Z97 PCMate
AMD Sapphire R9 290X
Western Digital 1GB Blue/Green (forgot)
Corsair CX750M
Crucial CT102464BA160B 8GB DDR3

Peripherals:
Steelseries Rival
Coolermaster Quickfire TK (4020)
HyperX Cloud V1
BenQ XL2411Z (144HZ)
AOC e2050
Huion K58 Tablet( for osu )

Which distro would be best suited for what I am planning to do and my hardware/peripherals?

Solution
Yes but proprietary amd drivers sort of a headache on linux, currently Nvidia still recommended for gaming. Opensource /default amd driver works and much less headache but 3d performance is slightly less.

Also use latest ubuntu. 14.04 is too old to support your other hardware...

Also also when installing drivers use the package manager! Never try to install from website... on ubuntu just use the 'additional drivers' software and it will automatically install.
