Is my HDD causing lag spikes/freezing in game?

Hey guys! So recently I've been experiencing terrible lag spikes and freezing for like 10-20 seconds where the game runs fine 60-70 fps then suddenly gets these terrible lag spikes or even freezes up for 20 seconds or so. Now, what makes me think this is my hard drive is that it only seems to do this with DayZ and Rust, two large mapped games with alot of players on the same server and in Rust, alot of bases on the same server too. I can play these games on the lowest settings and even reduce my resolution to 1280x720 or so and it will not remove these lag spikes/freezing. My setup is fairly good and should run DayZ and Rust on low/medium settings with 1920x1080 good. Actually, when I played Rust and DayZ a few months ago I never had this problem even though I haven't changed anything. My hard drive is quite a few years old now and holds about 600GB. It being old and games going in 60-80fps smoothly then just getting randomly getting really terrible and annoying lag spikes and freezing makes me think it's my HDD. Also that these two games didn't do this on the same settings and same setup a few months ago is strange. I haven't noticed anything strange with my computer other than this. I did a test with CrystalDiskMark and got this:

EDIT: I have also noticed that Rust runs a bit worse than DayZ with quite alot more lags and freezing than DayZ which makes it almost no fun to play while DayZ is still playable though it also lags up and freezes for 20 seconds or so but not very often DayZ does that. Rust has more players on one server (can go up to 200 players on the server I play on) and Rust has alot of custom built bases/houses by players, since the game is almost all about the bases, you have to have one to keep your stuff in and stuff like that so the map is full with houses and bases, which means more to read for the HDD...right?

My specs:
MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz
8GB RAM
Western Digital WD6400AADS

Hey there, ninen2001.

Sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing.
I'm not familiar with the game, but it depends if the data about those bases is on a server or not. Anyway, it's possible for the HDD to be causing the lag and freezes, so I'd recommend that you backup your important data, just to be on the safe side. After that go ahead and download DLG (Data Lifeguard) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see what's the situation with the HDD. Here's how to do that: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.
You could also try the HDD with a different SATA port and cables, to see if the same thing happens.

Please let me know how everything goes.

Hey, sorry, forgot about this thread. I decided to buy a new HDD since I wanted more space anyways and it actually improved performance a bit.
