So today i turned on my system ( which has a 3tb seagate barracuda 7200rpm hdd inside for os + files ) and i installed an update for windows . When i turned on my computer again , got the "insert proper boot device and reboot" error. I went to the bios and nothing seemed out of place (hdd selected as first boot device ). When trying to use windows recovery options (with the windows disc both the reset and recover options said the partition used for recovery was locked or not detected .
I hadn't seen any previous symptoms such as slow transfer speeds or clicking noises and i tried switching to anoth sata port, but this did not help .
Does anyone have any ideas?
Any answers will be appreciated.

How old is your drive, not saying that age is the ultimate test of your drive's lifespan but it may still be under warranty if it is, in fact dead.

You can try listening to he drive to see if it is repeating the same sequence over and over. If it is, than it's dying man.
