Is my hdd dead ??

My hp pavilion dv6 3110 ee bought in 2010 is showing had disk error on boot. I tried system diagnosticks. It's stuck at 00 %.
And i tried to do many clean installs of win 7 &8.
Now it still shows the same error but i am able to boot to the desktop by clicking F2 then Esc to exit the error & diagnostics screen.
What is the problem ?

Hi there technofan,

Unfortunately, it is possible that there is something wrong with your HDD.

You will need to take it out of the laptop an attach it either internally or externally(SATA to USB cable) to another system. That way you can try to access the drive. I guess you can use some data recovery tool in case you can't access it right away: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
