Hi
I got an old Maxtor 160 GB internal HDD as my second storage which was still alive until yesterday.
i was moving it and it fell down my hands from a height of 1 meter.
it gets recognized when I connect it to my pc and I can clean it with the DISKPART command but when I try to open the partition I created with Disk Management tool, it says the parameter is incorrect and the format wasnt completed succesfully 🙁
it makes some noise when being formatted
is my drive dead?

Welcome, @Mohammad Javad!

Unfortunately, @kaptainkuftic is right! Your hard drive has most probably failed due to the fall. Mechanical hard drives are pretty sensitive and even the most insignificant fall can damage the delicate hardware. If you have important data on the HDD that you wish to retrieve, it's probably best to turn to a professional data recovery company for assistance. Any data recovery attempts by yourself would put additional stress on the drive and are highly dangerous for the contents because we are not certain what exactly is the physical hardware damage.

If there's nothing important on the HDD, you should definitely replace it!

Good luck! Let us know if you have more questions!
