Yesterday the computer said it couldn't receive the HDD signal, but when I restarted it I could see the HDD displayed.

But after I checked, the files were gone but the capacity was still there.

What happened to my hard drive and is there any way to get the data back? thanks

  1. Run command line (cmd) as administrator
  2. From there, run chkdsk command with /R option ( chkdsk K: /r)

try pc inspector file recovery, if this won't work
thank you ,
yes i did that , it recovers 300gb but new folder has most of the files still can not recover

what do you think is the cause ? in the Diskinfo picture does it show HDD error ?

hi , sir
maybe my sata 3 cable is broken? i bought it for $5 on alibaba, $5 for a combo 5 cable

so in the picture, is my HDD broken?

Turn off Fast Boot in BIOS and
turn off Fast Startup in windows (or disable hibernation),
so this doesn't happen again.

Are you sure about the error message? Did it really mention anything about HDD ?

Or did you mean - monitor received no signal?

hi, thanks for your help, at that time there was a notification on the bottom right of win 10, saying that Disk K had some problem, i donlt remember to much

then I clicked My computer and Disk K was not displayed, but when I restarted I saw disk K

I checked ''Fast Startup'' on setting and it was always at never (sleep mode after 1 minute, 10 minutes, never)

I also went into BIOS when starting up and Fast Boot was always ''Disabled''

Show screenshot. I don't think, you found the correct location for Fast Startup setting.
