Is my HDD in good condition?

I recently came across a WD 1002FAEX 1TB 7200RPM that must be from 2013 or even further. It is quite noisy, even somewhat so when I tune down the AAM settings (which no longer really makes it a "performance" HDD anyhow).

Wondering if it is in good condition, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some photos from HD Tune:

When I ran this benchmark last night there were some really low dips in the blue line, much more stark than what these tests are showing.....

Hi there bthizle1,

I would agree with SR-71 Blackbird. The HDD seems to be in a good condition. The graph and the SMART report look fine.

WD Black is a premium product with 5 years of limited warranty. So, you can check if it is still under warranty and RMA it in case it's health deteriorates: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Ggx9dZ

Apart from all this, you should always keep in mind that mechanical drives, sometimes could just fail. So, you need to keep your most important data stored on at least two places.

Just did another that looks like this:
Compared to the above I ran today as well this is quite different...?

Yes this is my OS drive (it's my only drive I currently have installed). I have a 1tb WD PURPX that I changed with this WD 100FAEX (black). The Purple made almost no sound whatsoever, this black one is loud and I am concerned not only because of the sound but because I've had benchmark results like that a handful of times now.

I do believe my MOBO drivers are up to date yes. Will try swapping cables perhaps later today...?

I see, so those very varying graphs are normal? Also with this specific model, loud grinding noises most of the time are normal as well?
