I just got this headset today and i opened it up and plugged it in and the headset doesnt work without drivers. I tried the sound menu and I've tried to trouble shoot it with my pc and it doesnt enable it.

Hyper X Cloud 2

What I'm wondering is should I send it back or is there a fix that I dont know about?

So I just built my "new pc" & I've found out that it was my drivers, The Hyper X Cloud 2 requires realtek hd audio drivers, though I had to do some fighting with the headset to get it to work, meaning unpluging lots of times then using the audio and microphone jacks then pulling them in and out then finally using usb, weird way it started to work.
where did you plug it in to? try the back ports on the computer. if you're using the included USB cable, dont bother with that. plug in with the 3.5mm jack stright to the back of the computer where your speakers plug in. this way we can at least make sure it works. then, if you have a front audio jack, use that for convenience.

Few things I need from the headset is it to be 7.1 surround sound, I need the microphone, and I need a long wire. I have done 3.5mm and it works but I cant use that because the wire is too short. The instructions say this quick start guide - PC: Control Panel > Sound > Set Default Playback and Recording to HyperX 7.1 Audio. It doesn't tell me more than that. I wonder if this was suppose to be for windows 7 and windows 10 doesn't work with it. None the less maybe its my pc I have no idea. Again why I bought this is was because of it being 7.1 surrond sound and the microphone if i cant have that I will send it back I guess and purchase another headset to my liking.

Many people (including me) had the same problem. Supposedly it's because if you PC doesn't have a soundcard, you need to use the USB dongle as a soundcard to adjust volume of the headset and the mic.

In my case, the headset works just fine but the microphone doesn't pick up any sound. i tried every solution i found on the internet, including updating the firmware they released yesterday but to no avail. Such a good headset that many people are returning because that damn USB controller is a pain in the back.
