I just got an i5 2400 today to upgrade from my i3 530 and in most games I am getting the same fps or in some cases im getting worse! can some one help me with this it is confusing me a lot, I thought an i5 2400 would have been better than an i3 530

Specs
i5 2400
Gigabyte GA-H61m-S1 mATX
240gb kingston
550w Bronze cooler master psu
8gb DDR3 1333mhz
RX 580 4gb

Old system
i3 530
h57d01 (cheep motherboard from a oem system)
240gb kingston
550w Bronze cooler master psu
8gb DDR3 1333mhz
RX 580 4gb

Post Scriptum I once got 30-40 fps with my i3 and now im getting 20-30fps with my i5 2400? what gives!

Oh hang on. This was an OEM system, the Windows license will be tied to the original motherboard. Surprising it hasn’t deactivated unless this isn’t the original OEM license?

Best way to wipe and reinstall is with the Windows installation media. What version of Windows is it?

It will mean more updates to download and install once Windows is running. The newer install media will have a newer version of Windows. 4 months is a long time in Windows updates.
So anyways do I just plug the flash drive in and boot off of it and install windows? does it wipe the drive automatically? or do I do that inside of the installer???

Boot from the install media and follow the options. I don’t have the media to hand and can’t remember the exact options but it’s very self explanatory when you start.
So the Windows 10 installation media that is definatly the thing I have downloaded on my usb? thats the installer that you download when you are going to install windows onto a new drive?

Happy to help. Once Windows is installed you will need to download the latest drivers for your motherboard and gpu.
Well, I reset my pc and fired up all my favouret games and I don't seem to be getting a better fps
