So, I just got a new i5 2400 as an upgrade from my i3 530 and I am not getting much more fps than I did. So im just wondering if I am getting the right fps for the games I am playing?

Post Scriptum 20-30 fps
War Thunder 50-60 fps
Day of Infamy 20-30 fps
Darkest Hour Europe 44-45 20-30 fps
GTA 5 Online 20-30 fps
Rising Storm 2 Vietnam 25-35 fps

Specs
i5 2400
GA-H61m-S1 mATX
550w 80+ Bronze Cooler master psu
240gb kingston SSD
1tb wd hdd
RX 580 4gb
2x4gb DDR3 1333mhz

When I watch video with the i5 2400 and usually a worse GPU they normally get a really good fps.

PS: I normaly play them at medium settings at 900p (that's the native resolution of my monitor)

Solution
Ok cool. I checked several different graphics cards with your cpu and existing platform. Looks a 1660 gtx (non super) would be about the best graphics card you can do as far an upgrade without causing a severe bottleneck in that system. The only other suggestion I have is doubling your ram. The next ext option would be to build a new computer.

so your saying that if i get another 8gb of ram it will double my performance? because in videos they seem to be getting like 60 fps on gta 5 online and 100 fps on rising storm 2 vietnam
No I didn't say that at all. Just saying 16 gb's of matched ram is considered the norm for gaming now days. Other things to consider: What is the refresh rate for your monitor? How old is your windows installation? Mohterboard bios and drivers, up to date?

Have you reset bios (F5 usually) to factory optimized default settings? There's multiple hidden settings that you can't use, but will sometimes not get changed with a cpu change. Also, clear cmos. Make sure Xbox DVR, game helper stuff is disabled in Windows.
If you haven't recently, I'd also run ccleaner and registry tool (say Yes to backups) to clear out temp files and orphans that can slow a pc down, especially one as old as yours.

If you can, I'd also bump the dram manually to 1600, leave everything else as is, the OC will help.

Have you found other comparisons using your CPU and GPU? (Not to release any bombshell statements, but...both are a bit dated....)
You need to go to the manufacturer's website for your motherboard to get the latest bios and driver updates. It's not gonna run right until you do. Here's the link but you need to know what revision of the board you have (there are 5 different ones) before you start installing drivers and bios updates. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H61M-S1-rev-21#ov
How do I figure out what one I have?

I think I found it on the board it says Rev 2.2
This the right page? https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H61M-S1-rev-22/support#support-dl-driver

I could get a i5 3470 because when I was using that and my GT 1030 I was getting a way better fps than I am with this

Try to play on higher resolution ,also tweak your seting to medium- high and change your cpu to high priority in task manage after you run the game. You got cpu bottleneck so try to put more work on your videocard . I don't recomand invensting in that cpu(3470) ,you should go for i7-3770 (if you can sell or exchange your 2400 and add a small difference) but it's better to upgrade to ryzen 2600,2700,3xxx if you want a good experience. I got same cpu 2400 and i play cs go(i get 160 fps with rx470 but got imput lag and shutterings ) and i want to update because it doesn't run smooth.Try to find a cheap second hand kit - ryzen 2600+MB+16gb 2600mhz .
