I've been having a lot of memory based problems, but my RAM is not the cause - I've run through all of them with memtest86 in all dimm slots.

It's brand new, but dumb as I was - I didn't inspect the CPU for any kind of damage, before installing it.
Also the DIE side of the CPU has no scratches or visual defects.
I was very cautious when installing my h100i GTX, making sure I didn't overtighten it - I even cross tightened it.

So I wen't ahead to reseat the CPU and I noticed these two "cracks" on each side, It's more like a "ridge" almost like somone put a chisle and tapped on it.

Is this normal on a CPU, or should I RMA it ?

Solution
The metal heatspreader is not essential to the operation of the CPU. Scratches and such in it wouldn't cause problems with memory stability.

Are you running a kit with matching sticks? Even if you bought 4 identical sticks individually, sometimes they don't work together at their rated timings, which is why kits are sold.
