Is my M.2 SSD failing?

I have a handy little Vorke V2 mini PC which I take abroad with me. I plug it into hotel TVs to watch movies, play PC games, and do some computing.

I haven't used it that much. But now the M.2 SSD (which will be Sata) is recognised less and less.

At first it took ages to boot and to install things and it would blue screen on occasion. Now it is harder to get into start up as the drive is not recognised.

This is a lenovo s700 128mb M.2 SSD.

Does it sound like it is failing to you?

I opened the little box and took out and carefully put back in connectors in case something was loose. No difference.

I never saw an M.2 SSD before. Are they all tiny? It was like a stick of ram that plugged in on the end rather than the side.

I ask if they vary so I don't wind up with a replacement that is too big.

Solution
That deteriorating performance is consistent with a failing drive. OTOH, How is the power supply ?

Here is a nice presentation of the M.2 drive structure. Two physical items to note : First that SATA M.2 drives, which you have, are notched twice whereas NVMe M,2 drives only once. The other thing are the dimensions. The size of an M.2, SATA or NVMe is generally as follows:

"M.2 SSDs typically come in three sizes, which may be deduced from the card name —2242, 2260, and 2280 — "22" represents the width in millimeters (mm), while the next two digits represent the length, also in mm. The longer the drive, the more NAND flash chips can be mounted; hence, more capacity."

Next you are going to wonder how to clone the old to the new, eh ?

Solution
I don't know what to say about the power supply. In these little box devices it is normally tight. Or are you wondering if it could be failing?

Everything else seems fine.

Your explanation of width and height coding is really helpful. I will have to figure out what will fit. Probably Vorke state that in an upgrade guide.

I don't need the old data. It is just my steam games. The only pain is that I used a windows 7 pro license to activate windows 10 on the device. I will have to find my serial again and hope it still works.

Thanks a lot.
