Is my mic faulty?

The issue with the OS. This of an issue is widespread for pretty much every Windows 10 user. Aside from the above workarounds is to try and uninstall the mic from your Device Manger and then scan for hardware changes while your device is yet connected. Try and plug it into an available USB 2.0 port if it's currently running off an USB3.0 port. Make sure your chipset drivers as well as your BIOS is up to date. You might also need to verify if you're taking advantage of the chipsets USB headers/ports instead of an add-on controllers ports as some motherboard makers include third party controllers to add connectivity options while USB ports can be one of them.

Can you please pass on your full systems specs?
