Question Is my MOBO compatible?

Hiya,

So I will be building my new PC soon and was wondering if you could help me out?
This is my MOBO
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z370M-GAMING-PRO-AC/Specification
I will be fitting it with an I7 8700k
I was hoping to be putting an RTX2080 TI inside too.
I was wondering will the graphics card fit?
I'm slightly confused as to if it will fit as i have been using this website to determine which card would be best
https://thepcenthusiast.com/geforce-rtx-2080-ti-compared-best-rtx-2080-ti/
and it says that certain cards take 2.7 pci slots, some take 2 and some take 2.5
I hope i'm not being too literal but just wanted to make sure it will all fit nicely and not have to send anything back.

I would really appreciate some help. Many thanks

Yes the motherboard is compatible with the CPU.

That board has two PCIE x16 slots and the graphics card is compatible and would be ok to install on motherboard too but fitting is also a matter of case/chassis size.

What case do you plan to buy? What are the rest of the component you have selected?

So the 2.7 2.5 etc means the physical size, so it takes up 2 or basically 3 slots at the back of your case.
Most people don't have other add-in cards anymore, so its to show that if you have a small case/small motherboard or some other add-in card, it may interfere.
The only thing you have to know, is - do you have 3 slots spare (physical size, not taking 3 slots from motherboard) and does your PSU have enough power and quality to run it all.

So for my case I have a NZXT H500 https://www.amazon.co.uk/NZXT-Tempered-Supports-MicroATX-Motherboards/dp/B07D7KR2Y8?th=1
16gb of DDR4 RAM (will get 32)
Be Quiet CPU fan and case fans
250 GB samsung evo SSD (boot drive)
500 GB samsung evo SSD
2 TB WD black HDD

And then will purchase CPU and GPU after payday

I wont be adding a sound card or anything else like that.
here is my PSU: a corsair 750w platinum
psu calculator comes in at around 570/580w

If this is indeed the case the specifications part says 38.1 CM GPU clearance so as long as the card is not longer than that it's OK and would fir withing the case.

CPU cooler clearance is 16.5 CM so have that in mind when selecting a cooler for the CPU. If in doubt it's better to check compatibility lists with the case or cooler manufacturer and if not cleared that way best to ask them if it'd fit.

That is a very good PSU and would be enough too.

I would never cheap out on my PSU. Thanks for the help too.

this is my cpu cooler
dimensions are 21 x 21 x 14.7 cm so I should be ok?

As I said before CPU cooler clearance is 16.5 CM and that cooler's website says it's 16.3 CM (I think with the fan). That's 2
milimeters. Might not fit, I can't say for sure.

Better to search and see if anybody used that cooler on that CPU on that motherboard it that case. Or better yet to ask NZXT or the Be Quiet support.

This is the heat sink height:

That's almost 16 CM (15.94) from top of CPU. Not a very large margin for error here. I think it's best to check with case or cooler manufacturer to verify if it would fit properly.

Hey bud. Sorry for the long reply. I have done some googling and it seems that it will just about fit. abit snug mind you. I dont know if that will be an issue in the future but i will have to wait an see. thanks for the heads up though. my ram is hyper x fury so the ram clearance should be fine.

this is a reddit post of a guy usiing the case with the dark rock pro 4
View: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/a5915k/nzxt_h500_and_dark_rock_pro_4_are_compatible/

this is the case although he is using the dark rock 3. ill drop a link below to the specs. it looks like they are about the same height

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWIS9ILc3jY

https://www.quietpc.com/bq-bk018

total dimenstions of
rock 3: 137 x 160 x 97 (W x H x D)
rock 4: 136 x 159.4 x 96.3 (W x H x D)

edit: after doing even more digging I find someone using the exact same as me.

So I should be okay

No problem. It was a bit too close for my comfort to say "yeah go ahead it's all OK" without making sure.

OK then if you have done some digging and think it would fit in there.

I hope all goes well.

Many thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
I have been studying IT for a few years now so to be able to work and save up for this feels so good.
just cant wait to build it and see how it performs.
thanks for your help again and have a good weekend
