Is my motherboard bad/dead?

I am an experienced PC builder and with my most recent build I had trouble getting it to boot. After going through the entire checklist posted on here (aside from booting it up outside of its case) I have had no luck. I have swapped out PSUs, tried booting without GPU, tried booting with 1 and 2 sticks of RAM and then finally installed a motherboard speaker and to no avail... nothing. No beeps what so ever. All connections are properly installed and I have a odd feeling that the motherboard is bad. What is odd though is that LEDs on the back of the motherboard light up and so does the case power LED, so clearly the board is receiving power but it refuses to turn on in the slightest. I am moments away from returning it for a brand spanking new one but being an experienced builder I am determined to fix it myself if I can

P.S: By not booting I mean no case fans turning on, no gpu fans, no crazy motherboard leds going on (lol), and no heatsink fan powering on. When I press the power on button literally nothing happens.

MB: MSI Z270 Gaming Pro
GPU: MSI RX 480 4GB
CPU: i5 7600k
Cooler: 212 Evo
Storage: 3tb Seagate and 250gb 850 evo
RAM: 16gb Corsair LPX
PSU: 650w corsair M

Also a internal wireless network card

Take it out of the case, its probably shorting out on something.

Have you tried using all the different available display ports(DVI, VGA, HDMI)? Also, you could try taking out the CMOS battery for a few minutes to try to reset the bios before you boot. You could also try re-seating the CPU.

Also, if you installed the MB speaker correctly and it doesn't beep in anyway, it usually means there is nothing wrong (at least not with the ram for sure, as it would beep like crazy usually).

I'll give it a go, I cant imagine what it could be shorting out on but ill take a look, thank you for the pointers.

CPU has been resat already, but I will try removing the CMOS battery. Also none of the components are powering on at all (case fans, heatsink fan, gpu fans) so I dont think it would display anything regardless of what ports i tried.

Sometimes people might forget to put in stand-offs, having the board completely touching all parts of a very conductive metal surface. Other times, people might accidentally fumble and lose a screw when mounting something and have it find its way behind the motherboard. It is also possible that sometime people have an aftermarket cooler that has a conductive back plate and forget to add a necessary pieces (like small rubber spacers) that prevents it from fully making contact the motherboard. In rare occasions, people route cables between the motherboard and the motherboard tray and accidentally scrapped off some of the insulating plastic covering off those cables, revealing the conductive wires.

However, we don't know for certain if you actually shorted it out, but if any of what I stated above has happened, there is a good chance it shorted out.
