i recently plugged tried plugging in a fan into my psu i used a 6 pin to 2xmale molex to connect it when i did it the fan came on but went on and off like 3 times pc then turn off tried to start it back up all it did was idle i thought i exploded my psu so i tried my backup still the same thing also tried a back up gpu same tho it did beep a few times when i pressed buttons on the keyboard a billion times but then it would show no display but the intergrated graphics worked (akward) and thats with both psus and gpus i just recently took everything apart to rebuild still no posts so the few times i got a post it took about 5-6 mins pretty brutal i took it to a comp tech and he guessed it was my motherboard im unsure what to replace anyone have any ideas or experience with this situation haaaaaaalp

What do you mean? Fan? or GPU? Do you try to use the adapter ( http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41R-PQsGyPL.jpg ) for the GPU? But the PC will not boot and no display.

And can post your PC spec?

i used a similar adapter to plug up a case fan

psu cx750m
gpu xfx r9 280x do have both a 6pin and 8 pin connected to it
mobo msi 760gm-p34
cpu fx6300

Because you said you can use the onboard iGPU, and use it, install the AMD chipset driver http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%208%20-%2032 also update the BIOS too if you don't do it yet.
After you done those, try use the r9 280x again.
Also do you upgrade some of components on this PC recently? or is it the one you use for while? By the way what is your backup PSU or the backup GPU?

it takes forever for it too boot even without a gpu installed dont feel like throwing my pc in the yard like a frisbee atm
and yes they are new parts i used them for abour 2 hours (gpu/psu) then decided to hook up the fan its been rip since then
but the other psu is cx 500w and gpu is msi 7750
the tech i took it too said it was more than likely the mobo and didnt charge me for bringing the pc in kinda sketchy but anyways the gpu worked with the mobo b4 so i dont think thats a problem

Yes, it looks like the MB has problem, if you are sure the HDD or RAM does not have problem.

there is one slight possiblity left tho my gpu requires an 8/6pin to work with my new psu and i cant really test my old psu with my new card bc it only has 1 6pin so it is possible that the new psu might have got damage is that possible if i plugged in a fan while the pc was running if i used my old parts i get a beep in like 10mins which doesnt make sense if everything was normal it would boot right away
so i guess there is a possiblity it could be my new psu i guess its really frustrating just wish i was bill gates at this point my rma just ran out a few days ago aswell ill just replace the motherboard and try that hardtimes
