Is my motherboard broken?

So, about 10 minutes ago, I finnished up doing some cable management in my 3 day old computer. This management was all done in the rear panel, so there was no contact with the motherboard at all, and I was not un-plugging/plugging in cables. Simply tying them up. I have searched over and over but cannot find any problems with the physical look of it, or any of my other components.

After I finished up and tried to boot my pc, nothing happened. (It had been working earlier today). When I plug in the power supply, the power led on the motherboard turns on. Then, when I press the powerbutton, the CPU heatsink fan twitches once. Thats it.

Was there anything that I could have done to damage the motherboard? or do I need to call up ASUS and get my board replaced?

BTW, its an ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0

Thanks,
Mitch

Not sure if the mobo is broke or not. Could you give me some more info? What PSU are you using, and did you ground yourself before working? You can also check your connections and reset the CMOS and see if that helps

I actually fixed the problem.. The hard way...

I unplugged everything from the PSU except the main mobo power. When I turned it on, the DIMM slots began to spew smoke. After freaking out and pacing back and forth for a few minutes, I decided to take everything apart and put it all back together.

This posed additional problems, because when I went to remove the Heatsink, it pulled the CPU out too, and I had to use a hairdryer and a very careful hand to remove the cpu from the heatsink.

But after all that, I realized that I accidentally plugged a 4-pin header on a PSU cable into a fan controller. I thought the header was attached to one of my fans...

After half a week, everything is still running smoothly. I thank God for this because it could have ended with me forking out another $150 for a new mobo.
