Yes. PCIe is backwards compatible.

Not necessarily, some newer GPU's will not work with legacy bios. I actually varies on the brand. The Asus m4a77td pro is legacy, not UEFI. Plus you need the minimum PSU wattage recommended for the card. I recently upgraded my video cards to some used XFX rx460 for my legacy boards because I found the XFX RX460 would work. Make sure the card is returnable before you buy. Saw where ASUS Geforce GTX 1050 2GB worked on a HP Compaq Elite 8100 CMT PC.

What about a 1050 ti to use it temporary with this mb and phenom ii x2 until i upgrade my cpu and mb.My gpu has broken and think of buying a 1050 ti until i save up some money for cpu and mb
