Hi all, I've got a build I've been using for a little over a year now and was looking forward to upgrading to one of the new nvidia cards coming out, most likely the 1070.

But first I was looking over my current setup and remembered I went cheap on my motherboard and was wondering if it would be fine or if I should upgrade it as well for any over clocking I may want to do.

My specs are
AMD FX 8320 3.5GHZ
24gb of pny ddr3 1866mhz ram
Nvidia gtx 760
Thermaltake 850w psu
Msi g43-970

Solution
The g43 is a weak board , it won't allow any overclocking at all with an 8 core.

That's going to dictate whether an upgrade is worth it to you, generally though the 8320 is at its best when pushed to 4.2/4.3GHz which is definitely not possible with the g43.

Hang on to the board you have for as long as you can and don't sink any more money in that dead platform. The 1070 will work.
