Is my MSI NEO 4 Platinum somehow defective?

My NB Fan spins at a 7600 rpm's which is anoying.

People are claiming that I can use MSI Core Center Utility to adjust the NB Fan Speed.

There is a slider for the CPU fan, but I cannot find one for the North Bridge Fan. Also there is no NB temp reading either.

I have the NF 6.39 drivers installed and Core Center 1.7.3.0. There is to my knowledge only one BIOS version 1.10.

I assumed my MB just doesn't have those features, now I am not sure.

I've heard that that nb fan is supposed to be pretty noisy! Is
it as bad as everyone says or is it just an exaggeration?

Its not that noisy, its just that I went to great pains to silence my PC as much as possible.

I only really notice it when all my hard drives shut down due to inactivity.

A cheap and quiet solution would be a zalman passive north bridge cooler.

I am just not sure if it would be adequate.

PS I was able to reach 250 FSB by moving my SATA drive to another port.

When I figure out how far I can OC my system, then how far I will OC my system then I will give the Zalman a go and see if it is still stable.

3 wires and I get an RPM reading.

Someone with the SLI version said they can adjust the NB fan via corecenter. I have the non-sli version but still...

Suppose I should post in MSI's forum, but I really don't want to find out because that meants RMA'ing the board.

I build/rebuild four computers in the last week, I don't want to touch another MB for awhile :)
