Is my new ac wifi card incompatible with my Toshiba Satellite laptop?

I want to know if it's possible my new network card is incompatible with my laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite M640, Intel i5 CPU running Windows 7-64. I replaced the Intel 802.11n card with an "Intel 7260 IEEE 802.11ac" dual band card. After much frustration, the laptop finally recognized the card and intel driver. Device Manager shows the card is working properly. However, I cannot see any of my wireless networks. Opening the list of available networks gives the message "Not Connected, Connections are Available" and my VPN is the only network listed - which is not available because I can not connect to internet. I ran the troubleshooter through Network and Sharing Center, and it said to enable my wireless capability - my status light shows my wifi is already on, and pressing fn/F8 doesn't change anything. Swapping the antenna wires on the card hasn't helped. Rebooting hasn't helped. Uninstalling/reinstalling the driver hasn't helped. My warranty is expired so I can't ask Toshiba.

Where did you purchase the new network card?

Maybe the card is defective? Go to Intel's website and check their FAQs and forums regarding that model network card.

With or without some known network card problem consider returning the card for a replacement.
