Hello,

I just ordered a new Seagate 500GB HDD. It worked fine for a few hours and I was able to install Windows 7 but it somehow got stuck at the black screen+cursor blinking window. I tried reinstalling the Windows but the problem remained the same.

Then I plugged out my HDD and connected it to my main computer (which I am currently using) and the HDD stopped working -- it wasn't detected in BIOS nor did it power up. I have tried almost everything from changing SATA ports to changing SATA cables and nothing worked. My old HDD is still working fine

Is my new HDD a faulty one? I mean, it worked fine until I install Windows and saw that black screen+cursor blinking screen and suddenly HDD wasn't even booting up.

P.S. When it was working, I could here clicking sound -- not very loud though.

Best Regards,

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I think it was a mistake -- the HDD made a beepy sound throughout the time it was powered on. I believe it wasn't a clicking sound. Sorry for the confusion.

However, I checked my old WD HDD and it doesn't make any sound.

Hi,

Right now the HDD is not even booting up, that's the problem. I have changed the SATA ports, SATA cables, heck I even tried plugging it into another computer but it just won't start. Nothing's happening with the HDD. Is it completely dead?

What's annoying me is that it worked fine for a couple of hours and then it suddenly stopped working. Although it was never able to successfully run Windows 7 because of that creepy black screen+cursor blinking screen after installing Windows 7.
