Is my new PC Fried?

Recently I bought a asus m5a78L-mlx plus motherboard, an fx-6300 processor, 2 sticks of KINGSTON KHX1600C9D3K2/4GXDDR3 and MSI **MSI S-2801BS ATX CASE. My dad wanted to put it together and I let him, but he made a few mistakes. The manual didnt say anything about standoffs, so first the motherboard was screwed in without standoffs, it did not snap or anything, but he did get everything together and try to turn it on. The only thing that happened was the fans spun for a second but it did not boot. After reading about standoffs we put them in. We have an old 350 watt power supply that "might" be failing as my previous computer died, but we checked this psu on another computer and it works (its an older computer so requires less power). The new one when we try to start it starts up for about 1-2 seconds, the fans power on the processor fan powers on lights turn on and then it goes out.

[Getting irritated that the computer was not working my dad got lazy, and he was trying things and taking sticks of ram out without unplugging the power cord in the back, i yelled at him right away when i saw it, but you cant really do anything about it because he is my dad] (there were no sparks or smoke)

I'm not really sure what the issue is but i was about to buy a new power supply to see if that would help. (I do have a radeon hd 6570 video card that we put in but we thought it might be the power supply so less things plugged in less power required) we also have my old hard drive that was installed, not quite sure if thats the issue, as I have not put that into another computer to test it yet since my old computer died. We assumed the old motherboard fried in the recent storm, the power shut off and it would not turn back on. We did have surge protectors and everything. Although the pc was like 7 years old.

Bro this gave me a good laugh thx. I ain't no computer guru but its doesn't sound good. I hope you figure out the problem :-(. I'm a computer noob, learned how to build my own computer on youtube, was pretty straight foward took me 2 hours. Just don't let dad put his dirty paws on technology no more. Taking out pieces with the computer turned on was a good one hahahahhaahha sorry it's just funny 🙂. Hope you can game soon

If you bite into the side panel of your case and it's crunchy then yes your computer is fried. 😛

Installing that board without stand off will cause it short out and shouldn't cause major harm, but if you try to boot multiple times then it will.
Using a old power supply is a bad idea. This will cause more damage to your components especially if your old PSU is faulty.
