Is my Overclocked CPU Bottlenecking the GPU?

Hi,
I have a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice Single Core CPU.
At stock, the CPU's clock is 1800 MHz. I have it overclocked at 2601 MHz (289x9) with 1.525 Volts. I have 2048 MB of RAM overclocked at 239 MHz (Stock 200 MHz) with timmings as 3, 3, 3, 9 @ 1T. The CPU is on stock cooling and the temp on full load is about 45 Deg C.
I just purchased a new GPU, MSI ATi Radeon HD4670. I just need to know if my GPU is being bottlenecked by my CPU. I ran a few FPS tests.
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-E, Socket 939, PCI-E 1.0
Game: Crysis Warhead
Test Series 1 (Res: 1280x1024, Graphics Setting: Enthu, AA: 8x)
CPU - 1800, GPU - 750+1000, FPS - 2.82
CPU - 1800, GPU - 778+1140, FPS - 2.60
CPU - 2601, GPU - 750+1000, FPS - 2.65
CPU - 2601, GPU - 778+1140, FPS - 2.87

Test Series 2 (Res: 800x600, Graphics Setting: Minimum, AA: Off)
CPU - 1800, GPU - 750+1000, FPS - 32.68
CPU - 1800, GPU - 778+1140, FPS - 32.23
CPU - 2601, GPU - 750+1000, FPS - 47.42
CPU - 2601, GPU - 778+1140, FPS - 45.58

In case my current CPU is bottlenecking my GPU, then I plan to upgrade to AMD Athlon X2 5000+ (2600 MHz, Dual Core). Would this CPU resolve the bottlenecking issue?

TBH, i would hesitantly say no.

With the second lot of tests you show that you can hit good fps even stock clocked so i would just turn up the settings until you find a good balance.

What about 12 x 10 with gamer settings at 2xaa? how does that feel?

I got a FPS of 11.52 using the settings you'd suggested. I have checked out a few reviews for 4670, I have seen people getting an FPS of 33 at 16x10 resolution.

I'd say it's a combination of a weak cpu and a low end gpu. If you had a powerful cpu, you'd see decent fps, if you had a powerful gpu you'd probably see decent fps.

actually no,
at stock cpu speeds, FPS is limited with overclocking the GPU.
but at overclock speeds, you see increased FPS at overclocked GPU.

you're right, upgrade to any dual core that you can. dual cores are useful to almost any application these days.
