Is my PC build suitable for gaming or is there a better alternatives?

Greeting! Forgive me for being a noob but this is my build good enough for gaming? I want to play games like Total war, Xcom, EUIV (and other paradox 4x), Ash of singularity, etc. I am worried if I cannot get the best performance with my current budget or there are better hardwares that have better price/performance. This is my first build and my dad gave me about 1200$ (reward for passing medical school exam) and I am really nervous about it (first time i hold that much money in my hand). I did some researches on gpu and cpu but the rest of the components, not so much which is why I would like some guidances from experienced PC builders. I might do some abit overclock just to experience it unless told otherwise. 😀 Thanks

Thank you for the fast reply. I knew experienced rig builder can make it cheaper! (i am stingy...every $ count 😀 ) As for the monitor, I might follow your suggestion but is the improvement between 144hz and 60hz noticeable?
And the 1440p, I don't think I can afford it. The cheapest i can find is 244$ ;__; I will definitely go for a 1440p if it is on sale.
Lastly, i thought i would go abit higher than gtx1060 since i want to have massive battles in total war games (minus Atila, since i see a youtuber called Pixelated Appollo complained about lag during seige battles)

Lag in total war will be down to CPU grunt not the GPU mate .
The 1060 6gb is plenty for 1080p.
Just get a better 23 inch + screen in that build, an ssd, a better case (IMO) & drop to a 1060 6gb.

No worries mate, I do it all the time on mobile touch screen :-/

In budget, includes os & optical drive , 27inch screen ,good quality ssd, better case.

People would argue 27 inch is too big for 1080p but I'd disagree especially in games like total war where the HUD can't be scaled.

Here is an alternative. I dropped overclocking which isn't really THAT useful anyway, kept the GTX1070 and was able to get a 1440p with the money saved by not overclocking.

This is going to be an extremely big upgrade for me since my current PC is....a bit lacking.. (core i3 2100 3.1 GHz, no gpu, 6gb of drr3 ram, it is dell pre-built. ;__; you understand how i feel to have this PC and run CSGO in 25-15 fps right? right? ;__😉
