I am looking to [strike]purchase[/strike] building a new pc, and I want to know if all the pieces I've selected
are compatible. And if so are there any other money saving changes I could make to this
build?

• Intel core i5 7600k 3.8ghz quad core
• cooler master hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM sleeve bearing cpu cooler
• Asus h170 pro gaming atx lga1151 motherboard
• corsair vengeance LPX 16gb ddr4 - 3000 memory
• western digital black series 1tb 3.5 7200rpm hard drive
• MSI geforce gtx 1060 6gb Gaming x video card
• corsair 270 atx mid tower case
• corsair CXM 750W 80+ bronze certified semi modular atx power supply.

Solution
To be honest Id go Ryzen for the same price. While the i5 is a great cpu since Ryzen released and modern games have started being able to use more CPU threads the i5 has started to look a little dated. We already know the next generation of i5's will include 6 core versions so even Intel know 4 cores isn't going to cut it in the future.
