Is my PCIE slot is messing up?

I have been using this rig since 2014 and it is now crashing randomly. This started after i cleaned my PC and forgot to hook up the fan that cools my HDD. The problems only happen in the PCIE x16 but works fine in the PCIE x4.
My build

Motherboard: BIOSTAR TA970 Ver. 5.3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

May try update the amd chipset driver, that comes with the pcie controller driver. Just make sure there is not the software problem. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%208%20-%2032 May try reeast the gpu, or even update the BIOS.
If you still has the same problem, then think about the warranty because the MB has the limited warranty for 3 years period.
