Hello,

I have this build:

VGA: GTX 970 G1 Gaming
CPU: i3-4170 3.7GHz hyperthreading dual core
RAM: Kingston 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz
CPU cooler: cooler master hyper 212 evo rr-212e
HDD: WD10EZRZ
PSU: fsp raider 550w
MOBO: H97 anniversary
Case: nzxt source-210-elite

But when i play GTA5/The Witcher 3/CS:GO according to MSI Afterburner the cpu reaches 80 constant and sometimes 100% usage. This causes quick frame drops/stutters and i was wondering if I have built a wrong config.

Please if I need to replace the CPU suggest me something for those three games.

Thank you for the time spent with my config and this is the best forum for computers!

Well, GTA V and W3 I could understand high-usage most of the time, on CS:GO I cannot. Being a dual-cored CPU, it will limit your performance in lots of cases, like with games that would benefit more of a quad-core CPU (the ones (aside from CS:GO) that you mentioned). Have you tried exiting out of background processes?

like bakua said , a 970 is a very good card and with only a dual core its not surprising that gta v stutters etc. a i5 would help a lot and would definitely eliminate the stutters and usage should be less.

I never play with anything running in the background. What do you suggest as a good quad core that will help me run smooth gta5/tw3 (i can live without csgo)

If you want to keep your DDR3 RAM and motherboard socket, I'd go with the i5-4460, it's an upgrade in both cores and power.

And if I do not? (but in that case I will need an advice on the ram and motherboard as well)
