I have an acer aspire tc 705 (i5 4460, gtx 745 oem, 10gb RAM) and am looking into upgrading. I already know I need a better motherboard and psu along with the gpu but my main concern is: does acer use integrated processors? I really do not want to need to buy a new processor and wish to use my old one. (The only information on my motherboard is that its acer aspire tc 705)

Solution
i5 4460 CPU - not integrated, uses socket LGA 1150.
GTX 745 GPU - non integrated, OEM only low profile PCI-E card

You can upgrade to any LGA 1150 CPU supported by your motherboard, or a PCI-E graphic card as long as you confirm the following two things
1. Your power supply can supply the required voltage/current for your upgrades.
2. Your casing has the physical dimensions/clearance to accommodate the GPU/card you want to buy.

There is nothing wrong with using the same motherboard and CPU and just upgrading the power supply and video card.

Your system should be able to run a GTX 1050 without a PSU upgrade and it will be a huge upgrade over the GT 745 you have now.

Thanks everyone. I was starting to freak out since I am getting a new case, new psu, new gpu (hopefully) and probably need a windows 10 home since my system has the prebuilt oem version with no key included so all those are alot but a new cpu on top is super expensive for me. (If anyone was wondering the things im getting are: corsair spec 02 case, evga 500wb1 80+bronze, z97x gaming 5 motherboard (maybe) and a gtx 1060 or if I dont have enough a 1050 ti) also if anyone knows, does the corsair spec 2 fit the z97x gaming 5? The gaming 5 is a little smaller than average atx so im not sure if the screws will be in the righr places or if I need to drill new holes.

I'm confused about you "upgrading" the system, you are building a new computer not upgrading. With what you are buying, it's not worth transferring anything from the Acer to the other build, just sell it and build the new system.

If you are upgrading, all you need is a power supply and video card. With what you are doing, you are replacing. Just saving the CPU from your system is not worth it since the rest of it will be junked. You will be able to sell it for more as a whole.
