[SOLVED] is my psu dead or my cpu?

Hi guys,

so i build my pc 2 weeks ago and i accidently connected the pci e to the cpu connector. My pc turned off after a split second. Now i got a new motherboard and the problem is still there. Could my Cpu be dead or my Psu? My motherboard and Ram sticks still light up. my gpu gave a white light indicating everything should work

I would say CPU before PSU.

Question from dana-marvel : "Is my cpu dead?"

So i had accidently put the pci e in the cpu port I did a test with a paperclip with my psu and i concluded that the psu is dead. Now does that mean that my cpu is fried too? And can Ram be damaged too? I have already changed the motherboard and the ram lights light up. My psu fan spins for a split second and then turns off.

Might be all is dead because of wrong polarities but MB would be first on my list.

As the title says, what can you damage if you put a pci e cable in a cpu port and if you put a cpu cable in a pcie port. And do damaged parts have to have burn marks on them?
