Is my PSU dead?

Asus B85M-G motherboard
GeForce gtx 650 ti boost
PSU is a Thermaltake TR2 500W
8gb DDR3 RAM
intel i5 (forget the rest, think a 4th gen)
Corsair Spec-Alpha Case

Hey all thanks for checking this out, came downstairs after leaving my PC running only to find it shut off, after repeatedly trying to power it back on using various outlets and what not I hit the forums. I did the paperclip test and my case fans powered on for a second and then shut off. I didn't hear any noise coming from my PSU fan though. Does this mean my PSU is dead? Or is it my motherboard. Thanks in advance!

The paper clip test should keep the PSU fan running. Of course the PSU is not under load in this test. If the fan spins and shuts off, replace the PSU. It will not perform under load, and that is probably why the computer shut off.

I use this Tier list as a guide, and get one from Tier 1 or Tier 2. - Suggest XFX 550 watts PSU.
