Yesterday I was generating random seed map in 7 Days to Die. Since it kept stuck at some point I lowered all details to minimum and it finally worked. Came to bedroom, saw it's working so I left pc for a little longer while and paused the game. When I returned pc was turned off. Now I can't even turn the damn thing on. No reaction on pushing power button. I know this game has a broken engine and eats a lot of resources but that bad? Or my psu couldn't handle my new gpu?

Specs
Gigabyte Ma770UD3
Palit GTX 970
PSU: 500w
Cpu: Phenom 9550
8gbram DDR2

Recently i used some online wattage calculator and it says I use more or less 300W in total.

My RAM bottlenecked in this game. I know it made some stuff hot. Just couldn't figure out what. Gtx was cold enough. So was RAM and CPU i guess. Not sure about psu though. I only felt some warmth while playing 7 Days to Die. Or could be my mobo fried for good? I'm clueless. I don't have spare pc and parts to check it. Pc service only then? Or should I start playing "whack a mole"? And buy a new PSU and other stuff so if doesn't work I'd return it and get a refund?

Solution
So PSU might bottleneck my pc performance including FPS
No, a PSU can't cause that. Your PSU is killing your hardware because of bad voltage regulation and high ripple and the system is in danger because of the bad quality of the PSU and lack of protections.
Today I increased Textures size in-game settings and it did cut the power right off the bat cause it probably increased wattage immediately.
That's a PSU issue but it's not a bottleneck like I mentioned above.
Modecom MC530 Carbon 530W. It's said to be crappy though. But almost 5 years ago. It's my 2nd PSU since I bought my potato pc in 2009.

Edit:
Thx for the link. I was about to do that paperclip trick and just before that it suddenly started working again Haven't even plugged off the cables, just pulled out pc from my pc desk "slot". Switched psu on and it's working. Maybe some cables didn't have a proper connection. Or just my PSU acts a drama queen. It happened couple times in the past. Wiggled some cables a bit and it fixed itself. Or I had to wait couple days 'til it wants to turn on gracefully and mercifully again.

You never know with a junky PSU. Probably killed some parts over the five years due to high ripple. Give another PSU a try.

The PSU only has one 6 pin PCI-e connector. How did you connect it to the GPU. All GTX 970 requires 8 (6+2) pin at least and your Palit 2x6 pin as far as I can find. You're using molex to PCI-e adapters or 1x 6 pin to 2x 6 pin adapter cable?

From what I can find this so called 500w is only rated at 300w on the 12v. It should be thought of as a low quality 300w and not a 500w
390w but that doesn't matter. Junk is junk.

Yeah, this is an incredibly low quality PSU and looking at it, it does appear to just have just a six-pin PCIE connector, which is frightening because it means a cheap adapter connected to a junk PSU.

It would have been more graceful and merciful if it didn't turn on again. This should certainly never be turned on with any GPU with supplementary power, ever.

I used another 6pin/molex adapter.

I concur with the other posts, get a good quality PSU as soon as possible.

I don't know where you're buying from, but I know in the US, there have been some really good deals on Corsair PSUs from NewEgg. Admittedly, they require mail-in rebates, but still worthwhile.

Right at the moment, I'm seeing (in order of what I think to be highest to lowest quality):
The RMx is a high quality unit, while the CX are more budget-minded units, but still acceptable... and even the CXM is well above and beyond the quality of the Modecom.

Also, one of the two following discount codes MAY work, if you're subscribed to the NewEgg emails, and will take 10% off the pre-rebate price.
  • 2021EGGIEUPS
  • EMPUSA2021
Aside from those, see the first two links in my sig for PSU recommendations.
