Is my PSU enough for my R9 280?

My build is i5-4590+R9 280, the motherboard is ASRock H97M Anniversary, 8GB DDR3, 1*1TB 7200rpm HDD. Is an EVGA 430W enough for this build?

Would want a minimum of a good 500 watt PSU with 25 AMPs on the 12 volt rail

You actually should just look at the specs for your card because the same series card could use/have different power requirements with different manufacturers. For example, I have a Gigabyte R9 280X, and it's written that I need at least a 500W power supply. However, I've seen R9 280X cards from Sapphire that says a 750W PSU was required for that particular card.

So you need to go by what the manufacturer says.

If pushed too long or to hard the PSU can deteriorate causing problems in gaming and general use, could also pop from being over stressed which could damage the components in the rig

Games usually do not push gpus to their max power (especially not those 2 games). If you run a synthetic benchmark then it may cause the system to be unstable. I guess you can be sure by running a benchmark.

Your psu will work now, but we are saying it is borderline risky.

The EVGA 430W has the +12V with 34A. According to the TDP: 84W(CPU)+250W(R9 280)+40W(Other)=374W, 374W/12=31.7A. 31.7/80%=39A. So is a PSU with 40A on +12V enough? Thanks

It shows a rating of 408 watts on the 12 volt rail. Closer than I would want to be for sustained use especially if OCing
