Will a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 and a GTX 750ti be okay with a 350 wat psu? (Ill be able to play battlefield at 1280x1024 resolution decently right)

Solution

Who's telling you to buy a new PSU?

If your 350W PSU has sufficient combined +12V capacity you don't need a new PSU.

NVIDIA's own recommendations is a 300W PSU minimum. (Minimum system power requirement based on a PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz 130 Watt TDP processor.) An Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 is a 95W TDP processor so it will draw less power.

Many people have run a GeForce GTX 750 Ti on the 300W PSUs that came with their pre-built consumer systems from Dell or HP without any problems whatsoever.

This question is popular this weekend ... and there's contrasting views

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_750_and_750_ti_review,5.html

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 750 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450 Watt power supply unit.
GeForce GTX 750 Ti - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450 Watt power supply unit.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with a bit more stamina.

Thermal and Power Specs:
95 C=Maximum GPU Tempurature (in C)
60 W=Graphics Card Power (W)
300 W=Minimum System Power Requirement (W)

I think Guru3Ds recommendation is based upon the fact that 99.7% of PSUs under 450 watts are just not very well made; an opinion I share. I can't name one that i would put in a build other than a few seasonic models (Seasonic SS-300SFD 80 Plus, Seasonic X-400 Fanless (SS-400FL))

If you have the PSU, I'd do it..... but if I was building new, frankly I wouldn't go below 520.

It's not a matter of wattage, it a matter of the fact that the number of decent quality 350 PSUs is miniscule. The 350 watts niche is filled by bargain hunting system builders. For what it costs for a manufacturer to build a 350 watter, a vendor looking to put a quality PSU on the market can build a 550 watter so just don't bother to make the little guys....a 550 watter can also power a 350 watt load.
