Is my PSU strong enough?

Hello guys,

I'm working on my first build. Everything went smooth more or less but I'm a bit worried about my PSU. I got myself a Seasonic S12II-bronze 520 Watt. is that sufficient for 2 GPU's, both Radeon's 7950 cards? My gut says it's a bit on the risky side and I don"t want the whole thing to blow skyhigh.

each card can consume over 200watts under load.
Add CPU and the rest of the components and you are well over 500.
You can not use this PSU for multi GPU setup.
For your system you are going to need at least 750w of a decent PSU.

n0ns3ns3, Let me clarify a bit. I'm building an Ethereum miner. So the other components of the system don't consume that much power.

This is my entire build:

Processor: Intel Celeron G1840 Boxed
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H
PSU: Seasonic S12II Bronze edition 520 W
SSD: Kingston SSD Now KC 400 128 GB
RAM: 8 GB ram
GPU: 2x HD Radeon 7950

A 520W PSU will not suffice in this case?

CPU, RAM, fans, storage ... they all consume power.
so even at idle they will consume some 30-50watts. And definitely more under load.
But let's assume that they will consume "just" 50 watts.
together with your cards, it will be some 200-220 watt x2 = 450-490watt.
Even though S12II is a decent PSU, i doubt it will last much under such load. PSUs are better at 40-60% of their capacity at continuous load. they can get close to 100%, but that is not recommended for the long run.
think about car engine working at 10,000 RPM all the time.

Ok I understand. Perhaps getting a PSU of 620W should do the trick then.

As i said earlier, i wouldn't put less than 850w of good PSU.
May be 750w of a great one like Corsair RM750x.
