I have a Saphire R9 270x with a i7 3770k on a Asrock B75 Pro 3m motherboard. When I try and install the the AMD driver software Windows 10 keeps freezing on 'Detecting Hardware' and I have to restart the system to get things working again. I have done a clean install of Windows and it has not made a difference. Is the old graphics card probably the problem?

Solution
That's a little strange.

What I would suggest is the following, in order:
  1. Download the latest drivers for that GPU directly from AMD's website for your OS version
  2. Download the latest version of DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)
  3. Reboot the PC in Safe Mode
  4. Run DDU to completely remove the AMD drivers
  5. Reboot
  6. Install the AMD drivers you downloaded in step 1.
  7. Reboot, even if not prompted to do so.
That should take care of it.
