Is my ram bad?

I just bought 2 sticks of ram for my pc. Stick 1 and Stick 2 is how i will refer to them. I put stick 1 in and it works fine i put 2 in and it doesnt. Booting with just stick 2 doesnt do anything either. I just bought these ram like 2 days ago

Your motherboard manual tells you which slots to use. Do you have more than 2 slots? If so, check the manual to make sure you use the correct ones.

if stick 2 isnt working by itself like stick 1 is in the same slot then i'd say stick 2 is a problem

They were in the right slots and they are the same kind of ram too.

Ok. 2 more questions. What size (in gigabytes) are each stick, and what version of windows are you using. A 32 bit version of windows only supports 4 gigabytes of ram. You need 64 bit to support more than 4 gigs of ram.

not uncommon to get a DOA stick happens all the time. if your saying stick 2 wont boot by itself in the same slot stick 1 did then stick 2 is doa. its not a slot issue
