Is my ram bad?

Hello,

Last week i bought 8Gb(2x4)of Corshair DDR3 ram (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9). However i cant seem to get it clocked up to 1600mhz using XMP. After i enbale XMP in bios and restart, my computer will say "overclock failed". I then have to go into bios again and turn it back to defult for it to boot successfully.

Also, since yesterday my computer has started to blue screen and freeze on me, i ran memtest86 v4.2 and it gave me over 500 errors...

Is my ram faulty?

My specs:

Cpu: I7 2600k
Mobo: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO
Ram: 8GB Dual Channel Corshair Vengence 1600mhz
Video card: Nvidia 580GTX
System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

The board is designed to handle 1600MHX RAM and the memory is rated at 1600MHZ. Why would you be trying to O.C. it to 1600MHZ? It should default to 1600MHZ. Am I missing something?
