My computer has 2 4 gb ddr 3 1600 mhz ram. I read the minimum requirement for Apex Legends and it is 6 gb ram.

  • However, since the game is recent, do they mean ddr4 ram? What mhz speed do they mean?
  • How to find out if while playing the game, ram is bottlenecking the fps?
  • Can I just buy a new stick of ram and fit it next to the 2 4gb ddr ram?
I've XPS 8700 with RX 580

I usually have 100 tabs open, I may decide to stream the game while playing it, but I'll prolly play on low settings

Thanks

If your motherboard supports ddr3 ram, it will not support ddr4.
To apps or games, ddr3 or ddr4 is irrelevant.
What counts is how much.
I read it that you have 2 4gb sticks of ram which totals 8gb. That should be ok for gaming.
But, if you also want 100 tabs open, you should have at least 16gb or perhaps even more.
Go to a ram web site like crucial or kingston.
Access their ram upgrade app.
Enter the make/model of your pc and you should get a list of compatible upgrades.
You may have to abandon the 8gb you have to get a compatible upgrade.
